Centralia College men’s soccer earns first win
The Centralia College men’s soccer team earned its first-ever point Tuesday at the NWAC Friendlies in Tukwila with a 1-1 draw against Shoreline, then one-upped itself with its first win in program history Wednesday, downing Edmonds College 2-1.
The Trailblazers had to come back in both matches, and did so in dramatic fashion against the Tritons after falling behind 1-0 in the 20th minute. Black Hills alum Jace Brookersen drew CC level with an unassisted goal in the 81st, but the Blazers didn’t stop there, with Raymundo Ramirez putting them ahead for good in the 85th.
CC made the most of a man advantage — despite initially conceding — after Edmonds had a player sent off in the 18th minute.
Keeper Victor Rojans made four saves to earn the win in net.
Brookersen scored CC’s goal in the first matchup as well, bringing the Blazers level in the 22nd minute after the Dolphins went up 1-0 in the 10th. The two teams’ defenses dictated the rest of the way, with Rojas making seven saves and his opposite number making five.
