CC sweeps doubleheader against Pierce
The Centralia College basketball teams both topped Pierce at home on Wednesday, sweeping the Raiders in an NWAC doubleheader.
The men needed an extra frame to come out on top in the first match, but a pair of threes from Ahren Bee-Richards kickstarted the Trailblazers in overtime and helped Centralia College come out on top 75-71.
His first three in the OT period came with 3:18 left, and his second came 82 seconds later at 1:56. The latter gave CC a lead it wouldn't relinquish.
Maximus Holliman led the way with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Luke Brewer added 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Shay Brannon tallied 11 points and five rebounds, Bee-Richards finished with nine points and nine rebounds, and Clay Morgan tallied seven points to go along with five boards.
The women's game capped the doubleheader, but it was not as close.
The CC offense exploded in the second quarter and kept it rolling in the second half en route to a 92-62 victory. Five different Trailblazers hit double-figures.
Keiryn Mann scored 26 points while adding six rebounds and four steals, while Khloe Glover scored 17 points and grabbed seven boards.
Morning Sky Iron Moccasine scored 16 points and tallied seven assists, Jazlyn Corpuz added 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and Abi Lundblad logged 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals off the bench.
Both the men's team (13-8, 3-4 NWAC) and the women's team (6-14, 1-4 NWAC) will head to Longview for a doubleheader against Lower Columbia College next Wednesday, Feb. 4.
