Starr had a strong start to her season as she led Centralia to a 2-1 record in the opening weekend with sweeps of Clark and Blue Mountain. She had the most assists per set during the opening weekend with 11.70, totaling 117 in the three matches. She also added 25 digs, six kills with a kill eff. of .532, four service aces and three blocks.

"Avery had a great opening weekend. There is an ease about the way Avery runs our offense, and she does a great job defensively and being a threat offensively," said head coach Ceanna Larson-Michalek. "She went on a couple of serving runs this week and can always be trusted to make a smart play when needed."
