Trailblazers sweep Titans to extend winning streak
The Centralia College baseball team swept Tacoma Community College in a doubleheader at Bob Peters Field on Thursday, pushing its win streak to five games in a row.
The Trailblazers won Game 1 8-3 and took Game 2 5-3.
In Game 1, Liam Karlson shined on the bump, allowing just two hits and an unearned run while walking just one and striking out nine across seven innings.
Mitchell Rowe and Jack Skelley both drove in a pair of runs, and Brandt Kneisler and Tanner Stack also drove in a run apiece.
The Trailblazers only tallied four hits, but they also drew six walks and stole eight bases. Nolan Christ stole three, Maverick Harper stole two, and Kneisler, Stack, and Sam Matosich each added one of their own.
The offense was able to get more base hits in Game 2, but the runs weren't as easy to come by.
TCC led 2-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, but Skelley hit a two-run single to tie the game. Stack added an RBI double in the fifth to give CC the lead, and Jace Bykari added a two-run single of his own in the sixth for some insurance.
Evan Peters pitched the first two innings, Conner Weiss pitched the following five, and Casey Julkowski rounded out the final two. Each CC pitched allowed one run, walked one, and they combined for nine strikeouts.
The Trailblazers (14-12, 2-0 NWAC) will look to win the series against Tacoma on Saturday, when they'll head north for another doubleheader against the Titans.
