Trailblazers top Raiders for first win
The Centralia College men's soccer team won its first game of the season on Saturday, taking down Pierce College 3-2 in the NWAC opener on the turf at Bob Peters Field.
Alan Cox got the Trailblazers on the board in just the ninth minute, and the score remained 1-0 until Pierce tied the game in the 64th.
It didn't take long for CC to get back on top, as Carlos Angel Hernandez scored just five minutes later, and Orlando Benavidez Jr. doubled the advantage another seven minutes later.
A Pierce free kick cut the lead to one in the 89th minute, but the Trailblazers were able to hold off a potential equalizer until the final whistle blew.
Rico Ewell finished with 12 saves in net for CC, while Javier Silva, Daemian Guzman, and Owen Jacobs logged assists.
CC (1-4, 1-0 NWAC) will be back at home on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup against Tacoma Community College.
